Facing Lesbian Lives | Breaking the Silence, the gay human rights group of COC Nijmegen, is presenting sixteen portraits of lesbian women from four different cities: Cape Town, Masaya, Sofia and Nijmegen.

Since lesbians are relatively invisible, and visible role models are important in the search for one's own identity, Breaking the Silence is hoping, literally, to present the face of lesbian lives worldwide. How openly, visibly or secretively do lesbians lead their lives? What choices do they make and what effect do legislation and culture have in the country they live in?
